Friday Fun 8.21

It has been great getting back into blogging daily. I needed the break that I took, but if feels so good to be back at it. I thought that we would continue to have Friday's showcase some behind the scenes and just random things that are going on over here. Plus it's always a great opportunity to show off pictures of Noah. :)

1. A little over a week ago I decided that I deserved flowers  so I went and bought myself a colorful little bouquet. And most of the flowers still look awesome. I love walking into the kitchen seeing bright and colorful fresh flowers.

2. I have got A LOT of fun projects in the works that I can't wait to share with you. Plus there are some fun areas in our new rental that I am going to be showing off next week. I have been super busy getting it all ready to show off and I can't wait for you to see!

3. I have been wanting to read more for quite some time now. It has been basically impossible with everything that I had going on. But I am still working to make it happen. I am currently reading Creative Confidence by Tom & David Kelley (find it here). Slowly but surely I am going to get through my pile of books that I want to read.

4. I made this instead of working one night. :) I was totally inspired by this DIY over at Homey Oh My and just had to make my own.

5. And lastly. As promised, a couple photos of my crazy little man. :)

DIY Key Bowl

When you have a toddler, your first solution for something doesn't always work. As I was setting up our entryway I had a brilliant plan to have all of us hang our keys on little hooks on the side of our entryway table. That is great and super handy until your little one decides to set the car alarms off. Over and over again. They were at the perfect height for him to be able to click all of our remotes. It was way too tempting for him. Haha! So new plan  :) I decided that I was going to make a cute bowl for us to place our keys in.

I used a sharpie, spray paint, and a plain white bowl. I picked up the bowl for $0.88 at the store! Using a house key that I had only key ring, I outlined it in the bottom of the bowl. Just to add a fun touch.

I decided that it was a little too plain still. So I turned it upside down and spray painted the bottom of the bowl gold (of course). It was a super simple and fun touch that added just enough design to the bowl.

I think our new key bowl looks super cute on our entryway table! I plan on sharing that with you next week! Happy Thursday lovelies! xo, Britt

Big Brother Status

Last week I shared what I had packed for Sophie and I for our hospital stay. So I thought that I should share Noah's big brother bag with you.

image.jpg

A few weeks ago, I got it in my head that Noah really needed a backpack. Like a tiny toddler backpack that he could carry his hospital snack and things around in. Just thinking about a mini human walking around with a tiny backpack on makes me smile. Admit it you just smiled thinking about it :) It took me HOURS to find a cute back that was little enough and didn't cost a fortune. I stumbled upon this cute backpack here.

I decided to get Noah a few of his favorite snacks to fill his bag and also a cute little book that I found about being a big brother. I didn't want to go overboard, but I do want him to feel special with his big brother gift. I think he is going to love it.

I let him just carry the bag around when it first arrived at the house and this is what happened. I think it's safe to say that he likes having a backpack. :)

So now are bags are all ready. Now we wait. :) x0, Britt

Little Details

Sometimes adding the smallest details to something can make a huge difference. I have been working on my gallery wall in our new dining room. Trying to get it "perfect." After staring at it for a while, I decided that my ampersand was a little too plain for me. Of course, my gut reaction was to paint it gold :) but I decided to do things a little different this time.

I decided that adding some fun polka dots to it would do just the trick. I thought about just using paint but thought it may be nice to add detail in such a way that if I changed my mind, I could easily adjust it without too much work. So I used some white sticker labels and a hole punch to create the effect that I was trying to achieve.

I love the little detail that it adds. It really helps tie the cardboard ampersand and the white frames together. And it feels good to know that if I do change my mind, I can just take the stickers right back off. I can't wait to share the whole gallery wall with you soon! I am almost ready. :) Happy Tuesday! xo, Britt

#nationalthriftshopday

Today is national thrift shop day! And if you know us at all, you know about our love of thrift store shopping! So today we have some photos of the fun things we found at our favorite thrift shop this weekend. Even Noah participated :)

Our favorite part of shopping at the thrift store is that you can find some really awesome things for such a good price. We especially love when we have some fun vintage finds, like Noah's vest or his little sweatshirt. There are so many interesting things that you can find that have so much character.

I think one of the best finds of the weekend was definitely Skylar's shark sweater! Isn't it so cool? We are hoping to get a little more thrift shopping in today to celebrate :) How about you? xo, Britt
