What's In the Bag?

When I hit 30 weeks it really set in that I was getting really close to the point when I had Noah. Little Noah's birth was a early surprise for everyone, I hadn't even packed a bag yet. I literally had nothing. I hadn't even had time to really think about it. So I decided to go all out on my bag this time :)

First there is the bag: I really wanted to get a cute bag to have my stuff in, but I also wanted a bag that I could keep using for Noah and Sophie's stuff after we get out of the hospital. I bought this one at Target. I got lucky because I happened to catch it on sale at the store.

When I had Noah the situation was very unique so my hospital was much different than the "normal" stay. So this time around I am sure there are things that I have that I don't really need (but will be nice to have for just in case) and there are probably plenty of things that I will need that I don't have. But I am excited to have at least something to start with. :) And don't worry, I have something for Noah, daddy, and aunt Skylar that I will share later. Can't leave them out. xo, Britt

Easy DIY Weaving

Lately I have been very intrigued by weaving. Sounds totally weird right :) But really! I follow a few awesome ladies on instagram that do some really cool wall hangings that are woven and I totally want to give it a try. In fact I ordered a starter kit and am just waiting for it to arrive. In the meantime I decided to play around a different kind of weaving.

I have been trying to come up with a few new pieces for Noah's gallery wall and I was really wanting to add a little texture. So I thought that this would be perfect. I used 4 different colors of yarn with a few varying textures, a yarn needle, a piece of plastic canvas (here) , and a 4x6 photo frame (here).

I cut the plastic canvas to the size of the frame. Then using my yarn needle I randomly made lines and shapes filling the space. After I got it like I wanted I placed it into the frame. I wanted to leave the back off of it so that it was airy and you could see through it to the wall.

I am very happy with how it turned out! I love the randomness of it and the texture. I think it will make a great addition to Noah's wall. I can't wait to show you his updated gallery wall when I get it all done. xo, Britt

Cozy Coupe Carwash

If you are anything like me, you make these really cool plans that you think are freakin' awesome and your kids are going to love, and then they fail. Ha! Either they hate them or things just don't work out as planned. You know what I am talking about. For the first time, my plan started out as a fail, but ended up being a success! Plus it was so much fun for the whole family.

I had this brilliant plan! Noah loves the water and he is always helping me clean off his highchair tray, so I had this awesome idea for us to have a cozy coupe car wash. His coupe and van really needed cleaned and I thought it would be so adorable to see a mini human washing his car! So I get everything all set up, I get Noah outside and I get our little sponges all suddsed up. I spray down the coupe and the van all hosed down and am showing him how to wash it and all he wants to do is sit in the cars.

So for a while it was just me cleaning his cars while he sat in them. :) It was fun, but I was so happy when Jake was able get Noah to help to. And surprisingly I was able to get photos of him while he was cleaning! Ha! It was seriously so much fun for all three of us.

We got his coupe and his van all clean and played in the water for a long time! It was nice to have a fun plan that I came up with for us to actually work out. It doesn't happen often but it sure feels good when it does. :) xo, Britt

Semi-Homemade Sprinkled Donuts

I LOVE donuts, I mean who doesn't? Well when planning Britts baby sprinkle I looked on Pinterest, other blogs, and websites for ideas. A lot of them had a few of the same ideas. My favorite was the sprinkled donuts. (Of course) so I knew that was one thing I had to do.

Our family has always made semi-homemade donuts using biscuits and sugar. So I decided to go that route. And if you want to make some here's what you'll need.

-canned biscuits (2 or more cans depending on what you're needing)

-a tub of icing (we used white)

-sprinkles

-vegetable oil

1. You take out the biscuits from the can and punch a hole out in the middle of each on. A bottle cap works great for this step.

2. Heat your oil in a frying pan to medium heat.

3. Then fry your donuts (and donut holes) to golden brown.

4. When they are done lay them on a plate that has a paper towel over it to soak up the dripping oil.

5. Next, heat your icing (In the microwave) so it's a little runny. Start out on 15-20 seconds. But don't heat too long or it can make it taste funny.

6. Then drizzle the icing over the donuts and sprinkle on as many sprinkles as you want!

When my icing completely dried I put them in small treat bags. I added a "thank you" note and set them out for guests to take as they left.

If you wanna make the sugar version of these donuts, start out the same way. After you fry them let them cool on the plate for just a few seconds and then throw them into a bag of sugar. Shake the donut around in the bag until it is lightly covered in sugar. Then set it on a plate. And repeat that until you have all the biscuits made. It's simple, yummy, and you should try it! xo, Sky

It's A Baby Sprinkle!

Yesterday we had a baby sprinkle for Sophie! If you are confused right now, let me explain. A baby sprinkle is like a baby shower only smaller. Usually by the second baby you have most of the essentials and only need diapers, wipes, and a few outfits. So instead of having a big shower you have a sprinkle instead.

We just invited close family and friends. We had some sweets and played fun games! Over all it was a wonderful, small gathering to show Brittnee and Sophie how much we care! Here are some pictures from the day!
