Oh Hey There, Sophie

Well we are officially a family of four. We welcomed little (or not so little rather) Sophie at 7:44am. She weighed in at 9lbs 10oz and 21in long.

Mr. Noah isn't too sure about mommy being hooked up to so many cords or about Sophie in general, but all of it sure tuckered him out.

There will be many more photos to come, but goodnight for now. xo, Britt

Handmade & Vintage Chick Event Recap

On Saturday I attended my first Chick Event at Park Place in Leawood, KS and I LOVED it! The weather was perfect, there were so many awesome booths to look at, and I wanted to buy WAY too much! :) I am love the idea of supporting small and local makers and businesses so this was such a fun event for me.

I thought I would share a few of my favorite shops that I discovered this weekend and what I bought.

1. Glitter + Wit
When I saw this super cute headband crown I could not pass it up! I knew it would be perfect for Sophie. There were so many things that I wish I could have bought this weekend but I will definitely be placing an order for more when they get their online shop up.

2. Be Wild and Free
Her awesome watercolor prints automatically pulled me into her booth! I loved basically everything that she had in there, but I ended up with a cute KC tote and a doxie watercolor print.

3. Wild Juniper
When we got to the event my mom told me I could pick out my birthday present. I couldn't resist choosing one of the long leather tassel necklaces. As soon as I spotted the mustard necklace, I knew it was the one that I wanted.

4. Little Free Spirit
This booth made me want to spend all of my money on accessories for Sophie. I had to settle down and choose wisely. :) I ended up deciding on one of the baby headwraps. And I cannot wait to see it on Sophie!!

There were SO MANY other amazing shops and I wish I could have bought things from all of them, but my husband would probably not have been happy about that. :) I loved the whole experience and all of my purchases and I am already ready for next year! xo, Britt

Big Brother Prep

Though Noah has no idea what's about to happen to him, I've been ttying to get as much time in with his as possible. Even if it's as simple as us hanging out in the dollar section of Target sipping on our icee, I cherish our one-on-one time.

Sotoday I figured I'd just share a few of the photos that I've captured recently of mommy and daddy and Noah :)

Hopefully Noah will soon be ready to fulfill his big brother duties :) But for now we'll just watch some Peppa Pig and relax together. xo, Britt

Clock DIY - IKEA Hack

I have been wanting to share my new gallery wall for a while now. But there was something missing. And I finally got it finished. I really wanted to find a cute clock to complete my wall.

image.jpg

Being the bargain hunter that I am. I decided to go with this $1.99 clock from IKEA.

image.jpg

I knew that it was going to need some work to be ready for my wall, but I was up for the challenge.
Here is what you need to complete the clock:

- clock
- spray paint
- card stock or chipboard
- glue

image.jpg

Here's what I did:

1. I took the plastic cover off the front of the clock and taped off the hands.

2. Then Jake spray painted the entire thing white for me.

3. Using the plastic cover, I traced a circle on chipboard.

4. Next I cut the circle in half and made a small notch for the hands with a hole punch.

5. Lastly I taped the chipboard evenly in the clock.

I like the fact that it is super clean and simple. And a fun part is that you can customize this with any color to fit your room. You can also add numbers or ticks if that would help you know what time it is. :) To accomplish the look that I was aiming for I decided to leave the numbers off.

Happy Thursday lovelies! xo, Britt

DIY Money Jar

Today I have a quick and easy way for you to make a money jar for your loose change. The best part is it's also adorable! Here's what you're going to need to get started:

  • A mason jar
  • Canning lid
  • Fabric
  • Sharpie
  • Scissors
  • Glue (I used rubber cement)
Money Jar. Click through for instructions.

1. With your sharpie, trace the outer edge of the canning lid onto the back of your fabric. (I used a lighter colored sharpie because I didn't want it to show through the fabric.)

2. Cut out the circle, but don't worry about getting it perfect! The edges won't show anyway.

3. Fold your circle in half. In the middle of the flat edge, cut a slit about 1/2 an inch deep.

4. Put a thin layer of glue around the rim of the jar. Lay your fabric circle upside down on a flat surface. Place the jar upside down, evenly on the fabric. (Make sure the fabric is stretched tight over the opening before the glue dries.)

Money Jar. Click through for instructions.

5. Put the canning lid (minus the middle piece) back on the jar.

6. Then all you have to do is add money and sit it somewhere for decoration.

It's cute enough to leave sitting out, so everyone can contribute! It could be for a family trip, a big family purchase, etc. It's not hard at all and only took about ten minutes! You should try it. And personalize it to your style.
