Family Theme Nights: Mexican Fiesta

Hey there! Happy Thursday! So a few weeks ago we shared how we were starting family theme nights (here). We love them! It's so fun to come up with the theme and then try to make it fun and exciting for the whole family.

We were inspired by Cinco de Mayo, but a fiesta can be fun any time! For our fiesta we made tacos of course :) We had all the fixings. We even had Mexican mandarin soda to try. This time we even had a few decorations and we had piñata poppers (we found the idea here).

Have an idea for family theme night? We want to hear about it! We are always looking for new and fun things to try! xoxo, Britt + Sky

Seeing Potential

For some people it is really hard to imagine the potential in something. When I see something I can only see potential, it's how my brain works. I think of all of the different ways that I can make the object "so me." Which a lot of times includes gold spray paint! I have a problem ... don't judge.

But there are certain things that you want to look for when finding a not so pretty object and customizing it. You want the object to have good bones. If the structure isn't sturdy or you can't easily make it so, then you should look past it. I am notorious for picking random things off the side of the road. I vividly recall me, Skylar, and Brooklynn putting 6 mismatched chairs into my car in the middle of the night. But sadly most of the chairs were in such bad shape that it didn't make sense for me to use them.

You also want to look at the shape and/or character of the object. I love unique pieces. For example, this super cute shaped planter that I found at an estate sale. I hated the color of it but I LOVED the shape. It was different than any that I had seen before. It was definitely a factor in why I decided to purchase it.

Adulting

As I'm sure you all know graduation season is upon us. I bet many of you are getting lots of invitations for parties. It's really crazy to think that about a year ago I graduated high school! It's even crazier to think that at the end of this year I will be 20 and have my Associates degree. It's amazing how fast time can fly and before you realize it you are an adult. It feels like just yesterday I was riding my bike around town with my friends playing cops and robbers. And now I'm filling out job applications, applying for classes, and doing weird, adult things. (Like getting excited over new appliances and taking out the trash)

Before I know it I'll be out of school, living on my own, and hopefully working a job I love. Although growing up is scary, we all do it and it has it's perks (like being able to eat dessert first without getting yelled at by your mom). And all in all, I'm proud of the "adult" me. I'm not completely grown up, but I'm getting there. And I think I'm doing a pretty good job so far.

I know a year ago I was super worried about what I wanted to do with my life . Throughout this year I've stressed over it multiple times, but I've realized it's gonna be okay. I don't have to have my life planned out. Things are going to constantly be changing. And my career choice may change too, and already has many times.

If you are graduating or in college just know it's okay to not know where to go or what to do next. Even if you are older and aren't sure about your career, don't be worried. Everything will be okay. You may not figure it out today, tomorrow, or even next year, but you will some day. And if you don't figure it out, just remember no one really knows what they are doing anyway.

Now enjoy some old pictures of me while I reminisce.

A Lovely Mother's Day

I know you probably think we disappeared off the face of the earth but we are still here!! Thank you for being so patient while we are transitioning through some pretty crazy things over here. We still can't share a lot but we will fill you all in as soon as we can. We swear. Now on to Mother's Day.

Motherhood has been the craziest and most fun thing that's ever happened to me. It's really hard to imagine how much you can love a mini human until you have one of your own. It's seriously crazy.

It's hard. I mean you are keeping this little person alive. The one that's trying to eat literally everything, trying to put their fingers in the socket, running into everything, and is basically a crawling/walking little accident waiting to happen. It's hard.

But it is the most rewarding thing. I love walking in the room and seeing his little face light up with excitement. I love helping him learn and grow. I love weekend snuggles. I love it all really, even the hard parts because I know it's all worth it.

Now that I'm done getting all sappy and crying a little while I type. I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! And treated their mama really special. :) Check out a few fun photos from our Mother's Day. Hope you have a great Monday! xo, Britt

Happy Monday!

We have a lot of big, new things coming our way soon. And most of these things are happening fast and needing a lot of our time. So we have decided that we are taking this week off from the blog to focus our attention on them. But don't worry! We will be back soon + of course we will fill you in soon. :) have a great week!
