Noah's Room Plans

Am I a little sad that the only two rooms that are finished in the house are going to get redone? Well maybe a little, but I am so excited to get started on Noah's new room! And then once we find out what baby #2 is, get started on the nursery. The plan is that the office will move into the rec room, Skylar will move to the office, Noah will move to Skylar's room, and the nursery will remain the nursery.

As I shared a week or so ago, I have been really starting to introduce Noah to Montessori learning. I plan to use many of those new learned principles in Noah's new room. I plan to make it where Noah can be as independent as possible. I am having my father-in-law help me build a little platform for Noah's bed, enabling him to get in and out of bed on his own.

I also want to set up all of his stuff at his level so he can play and do activities on his own. This will take some very good baby-proofing, so I plan on only allowing things in his room that he cannot hurt himself on. Nothing that he can fit in his mouth either. I know that would be the first place he would put it. :)

So I just thought I would share a few inspirations that I have found lately. I am trying to make up my mind and then here soon get started. (All of the photos link to the original sources)

Happy Wednesday! xo, Britt

DIY Paint Dipped Art

I had seen cool "Paint Dipped Art" on Pinterest before and I wanted to try it out because I loved how it looked. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it is where people take art they find at the thrift store and paint it to look like it has been dipped in paint. (If I just confused you even more click here or here for examples) I love the way it looks. But there has been some controversy over the idea of covering up someone else's artwork with paint. So to keep everyone happy I decided I would just cover my own art work.

I used a canvas to make my dipped artwork. First I painted the canvas a cream color. Then I used a pencil to draw out my art, a sugar skull. After my drawing was complete I taped the part of the drawing I wanted to show, than painted the rest a teal color (which is the "dipped" portion of my piece). After it dried I removed the tape and placed a piece of tape on the edge of the teal ( near where my drawing would be) so I didn't get any black in my "dipped" area. Then I just outlined the rest of my drawing that was still showing with black paint. And this is the result..

I love the paint dipped look and how my piece turned out. And I did it all without covering up someone else's work. :) xo, Sky

Fun Shop Stuff

We shared a while back that we were going to be doing some fun collaborations. And as many of you know, on Friday we shared on social media about the store that is selling some of our products. We are so excited about this great opportunity.

We are even going to be creating new product lines soon. So we will definitely keep you posted about all of those fun things. We should have some good stuff to share here in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, check out a few photos that we got of Goldie & Myrtle's on Friday.

Easter Eggs

Decorating Easter eggs is always the best. We usually dye them, and we probably will dye some this weekend, but we wanted to try some new ways of decorating. We wanted ways to decorate without dye, so that's just what we did! Using paint, stickers, and paper we made these fun eggs.

Coming up with words to put on our eggs with stickers (that would actually fit) was super hard. But when Brittnee came up with the brilliant idea of "EGG" we couldn't stop laughing. The best part is how cute this ironic little egg is.

Our big-eared bunny egg was one of our favorites. :) All this little guy took was paper, tape, and a pink crayon. Isn't he so cute? This is a great egg to make with the kiddos. Then on easter morning hiding these bunnies, and letting your kids find them, will be so fun!!

And of course Noah wanted to try to make a "non-dyed" Easter egg. So we just gave him some stickers and let him work his magic.

We hope you'll try some of these out while decorating your eggs! Happy Easter! xoxo, Britt + Sky

DIY Easter Centerpiece

I am always trying to come up with fun centerpieces for my table. I like for them to be inexpensive, fairly easy, and something that I can save and reuse.

As I was trying to figure out what I should do for Easter, I found these super cute berry baskets at the craft store. So I bought them and decided that I would find a way to make them work :)

I purchased cute and colorful paper grass to use in the baskets. And our mom found these awesome chalkboard eggs. They are perfect for customizing! Noah and Skylar decorated them with some colorful chalk. I think this will make a fun yearly tradition of decorating the eggs.

I used 5 baskets that I have spread across the table. Depending on the size of your table you could do more or less. As a rule of thumb, I try to use an odd number.

If you are looking for a fun, inexpensive, and kid-friendly easter decor project, this is for you. You and the kiddos will have fun customizing it! xo, Britt
