Valentines Breakfast

If you are wanting to do something nice for your husband, wife, or even kids this Valentine's day make them breakfast! Or better yet, breakfast in bed. :) We have a simple, quick breakfast idea we like to make on Valentine's day morning.

All you need to make the egg sanwhich is an egg, piece of toast, butter, and a heart shape cookie cutter. First butter your bread and then cut out the heart. Place the bread in a pan and crack your egg into the middle of the heart. Let it cook on that side for a few minutes and then carefully flip it and finish the other side. We take the center piece (the heart cut out) and cook it also. 

Then all you have to do is add a loving note or card (click here for our card inspiration), a flower, and their favorite breakfast drink. It's pretty simple but a fun, cute way to show someone you appreciate them. Not to mention its also very yummy! xoxo, Britt + Sky

DIY Valentine's Onesie

Needing a cute shirt for you kiddo this valentines day? Don't go to the store, make it yourself! Today we have a simple, inexpensive way for you to that. All you need to get started is:

• onesie
• fabric paint (red and black)
• foam
• scissors
• marker/ pencil
• tape

1. Draw out your heart  arrow onto the foam.

2.Then cut them both out. Next cut your arrow into three sections. 

3. Use tape to create a temporary handle like pictured below. We show washi tape here, but through trial and error we found that duct tape is a better choice. 

4. Grabbing your heart stamp by the handle, dip it into the red paint. Make sure it gets covered. Then carefully, but with enough pressure, stamp it into the center of the onesie.

5. Let the red paint dry for at least an hour.

6. Take each segment of your arrow and dip it in the black paint (same way you did the heart) and line it up like pictured below.

7. Let it dry completely. 

That's all! Now your kiddo has a cute, handmade shirt to wear for Valentine's day. :)

You can also customize the colors if you want. We just wanted to do the traditional red heart, but really the options are endless. xoxo, Britt + Sky

Valentine Card Inspiration

It's Valentine's week as I'm sure you all know. And although most people go out of their way and spend lots of money on their loved ones, you don't have to. Yes it's nice to buy your loved ones things they like, but not everyone can afford all the crazy Valentine's stuff. And really does a stuffed bear and chocolate really and truly profess your love? If you are wanting to show someone you care, tell them. There isn't a better way to do that than making a homemade card! Today I have three cards I made myself to help inspire you for your cards. 

A lot of the cards I personalize for whomever I am sending it to. Whatever they like, I incorporate into the design. But the outside isn't the most important part. On the inside write a loving message, let them know what they mean to you. Handmade cards are way better than just buying one at the store. New Years Eve Prep

We always enjoy bringing in the New Year. Unlike most people we celebrate with our grandparents in a pretty low key manner. We have some yummy food, a little confetti, and a lot of fun board games. 

This year we decided to start a new tradition. Instead of making our confetti out of perfectly good paper (or buying it)  we decided to use recycled paper. Over the past couple months we have been saving newspaper, written on paper, and print paper that had already served its purpose. As this this will be Noah's first New Years Eve, we thought we would start it by showing him how to bring in the new year in a fun but less wasteful way. 

Even if you haven't been saving paper we're sure you can go around and collect used paper to make your confetti this year. If you have kids old enough, letting them help cut the confetti is also a fun activity for your family. And after New Years Eve you can sweep up the confetti and take it to be recycled with the rest of your paper!  Try it and start this new year off a little greener!

Simple Personalized Gifts

Christmas is in less than two weeks! And we are sure many of you have not finished shopping yet. But don't worry! It's not too late. Today we have some quick and simple diy gifts that are super cute. Homemade gifts are great for anyone you need a gift for and can be personalized for any type of person.

Monogrammed Planter

What you will need:

• planter
• orange acrylic paint
• clear coat spray
• plant
• sharpie

1. Print and cut out a letter. You can use either the persons first initial or last initial.
2. Trace the letter on the planter with sharpie.
3. Paint in the letter with the color of your choice.
4. Outline your letter with black paint. Allow it to dry fully.
5. Spray two coats of clear coat spray on the planter to seal it.
6. Add your plant to the pot and give as a gift!

We really love how our planter turned out. The color of our 'M' and the plant look together. This planter was very inexpensive and simple to make. 

Painted Candle Jar

What you will need:

• small jar (we found ours at a thrift store for 25cents!)
• red Martha Stewart glass paint
• sticker paper
• pebbles
• small candle

1. Print a Christmas Tree onto your sticker paper (other shapes can be used also) and cut it out.
2. Stick the tree 'sticker' evenly on your jar.
3. Paint the rest of your jar red.
4. Allow to fully dry. (At least one hour)
5. Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool at least 15 minutes.
6. Add pebbles and your candle. 
7. Wrap up and give to a loved one!

This is also a very simple but cute present that almost anyone would love to receive. And you could personalize it in anyway you can think of: family initials, special dates, fun shapes, or anything you could print out or draw! 

Personalized Mug

What you will need:

• white coffee cup
• red Martha Stewart glass paint
• marshmallows
• hot chocolate packs
• sticker paper

1. Print out a letter on the sticker paper. Cut out the letter.
2. Place the letter center on one side of the coffee cup.
3. Paint over the letter sticker, like shown in the picture.
4. Let the paint dry for at least one hour.
5. Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before picking up.
6. Add marshmallows and hot chocolate packs to the cup for a perfect gift!

This makes for the perfect present. Everyone loves a personalized gift and hot chocolate! Now you can get two-in-one! It's a yummy and cute gift.

With the short days left before Christmas these gifts are a great idea to make for the people left on your list. Store bought gifts can be nice, but with hand made gifts you can insure no one else will get them the same gift! These gifts are simple, inexpensive, and adorable. We suggest you try these for some of your presents this year.
